The Uniqueness of Lake Toba

Less is more only takes 3-4 hours drive from Medan, North Sumatra province, we've arrived at Lake Toba. A lake formed by volcanic explosion of Mount Toba which occurred approximately 75.000 years ago. Once the enormity of this explosion of volcanic dust to fly up to 10 kilometers above sea level and spread up to half the earth, ranging from China to South Africa. Lake Toba has an area of approximately 30.000 square kilometers, making it the largest lake in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Lake Toba become tourism destination because of beautiful landscape. Limited to the eye could see the water looks crystal clear and soothing eye. Lake Toba has an island in the middle of the lake, the island of Samosir is located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. This island can be visited by boat ferry crossing with a travel time 45 minutes from the town of Parapat until Tuktuk, or can also be reached by traveling overland through Pangururan which became a place where the island of Sumatra and the island of Samosir in touch.
